Blogging and Podcasting Book

January 20, 2007

What No One Ever Tells You About.... Blogging And Podcasting by Ted DemopoulosTed Demopoulos, consultant, author, and blogger for Blogging for Business just sent me a copy of his new book called What No One Ever Tells You About…. Blogging And Podcasting. I got a chance to sit down for a little bit and read through it.

The way the book is laid out is it draws in information and advice Ted has collected from several bloggers, including myself when I was blogging over at why my blog stinks. One of the reasons I am not blogging there anymore is the blog was hacked into and some of the issues I ignored on a technical level had long term effects. But I don’t think it was the hacking attempt, as it was only an attempt, because I was able to salvage my content. But during that time I was blogging about parenting, as I am a dad of soon to be 5 kids, and keeping my business blogs regarding hunting and fishing kept up. So I let that site slide for now.

This site is my new venture to include some of the topics I have been eager to blog about. It will include content that appeared at Why My Blog Stinks, but maybe not necessarily from a stinky standpoint. For those who visited my blog in the past know what I am talking about.

But back to Ted. In his book I have written on Chapter 47, five mistakes I feel are common amongst bloggers. You will have to order the book to read exactly what I wrote but the top 5 mistakes I cover are:

1) Not engaging in conversations
2) Fear of Linking
3) Being long-winded
4) Not posting regularly and consistently
5) Not having a voice

I will touch on each of these in the next week (unless our new baby is born before then) and discuss more about these in detail.

Ted you are the first person to comment on my newly launched blog. Still looking for a title for it. haha

Glad to hear I was able to be a good asset to your book. It is a great read and I know it will help and inspire others.

Dawud, I also appreciated your submissions for the logo contest. If I remember right you did up a couple.

Why My Blog Stinks I think would have worked well but I had to move on with it. Between the hacking attempt and the growth of my online business the type of blogging I was doing required a lot of time. sremington will spend more time focusing on that solid content but I will more than likely drop the sarcasm, as the title doesn’t call for it. :D
